The quest for gold

The Quest For Gold

As the Justin the knight got to the castle, to see who would take him through the woods, waited anxiously for Queen Roxy to appear.
Once she got there she took him through the castle. They went to Peasant Hailee’s door and knocked on it. As she got out of her door, Queen Roxy said, “You will be taking Justin the knight through the woods.”
Later that day peasant Hailee and Justin the night got to the woods. As they walked through the woods the animals stared at them. The animals looked at them in a strange way.
Once they found a spot to sleep, they ate their soup and went to bed for the morning.
They got up and their stuff was gone! They hesitated for a second and searched for it the whole morning. They were so tired so then they moved on. Once they got to a stopping point, they saw a cave. They were so anxious to go inside.
Later that day they said, “We should go inside, so they went inside. As the got deeper they saw a DRAGON! Justin the knight grabbed his sword and started to stab the dragon!
While Peasant Hailee was sitting in the corner he found out that the dragon is the one who took their stuff because their stuff was on the table to the side. Peasant Hailee grabbed the stuff and went outside. He waited for Justin the knight to come out.
Once he got out he had a bag. So Peasant Hailee said, “What do you have in the bag.”
Justin replied, “I have  GOLD!” so both cheered for getting gold.
Once they started walking, they saw all of the animals smiling. They thought, “Why are they smiling at us?”
And then Justin replied, “Probably because we killed the dragon.”
Later that day they still did not make it out to go in to the castle, so they grabbed their stuff and went to bed.
In the morning they woke up and the animals cheered for them because they killed the dragon. As they went on they finally got to the castle. Once they saw Queen Roxy, they gave her the bag of gold. She said, “We are rich, and now you two get new bedrooms. For you Justin the knight you get the castle and peasant Hailee will be your best friend ever.”
And ever since then they been friends!!

Immune

                                                Figure, Person, Cartoon,

By: Gray Wasson

I hang up the phone, and hop in the car. On my way to Jolee's laboratory I call Philly, Rick, Rodger, Eve, Reese, and Bernard to tell them to come the lab as soon as possible.
After hours of driving across the country side I finally arrive at the lab. Philly, Reese, and Bernard show up not long after, but we have to wait a while before Rick, Rodger, and Eve show up.
“So what went wrong with your experiment exactly?” I ask.
“Well I thought I had found the perfect formula to make Klaus’s sore throat go away, but it only got worse,” Jolee answered.
“Ok, not really seeing how this involves us,” I say.
“After Klaus finally went to sleep, I started a new project,” Jolee continues as if I had never spoken.
“And what was that?” Philly asks curiously.
“The Cell-maker,” Jolee answers.
“That sounds interesting,” Bernard chimed in.
“I want all of you to be the first ones to experiment with it. I’ll turn you all in to extra powerful cells, so you can fight the bacteria in Klaus’s throat. Catron you’ll be the macrophage cell which means you are going to identify the antigen. Bernard you’re going to be the T cell, so you can call other cells to fight the germs. Reese you can be the B cell. You will tag the virus which weakens it. Philly I’m making you the K cell. You get the fun job of killing the virus. Eve your cell is a little more time consuming than the others. I’m making you a memory cell, so you will hang out to protect Klaus from any future sickness. And last but not least Roger you’re going to be a C cell, so your job will be to kill any infected cells. I’m sorry to say that any of you might get infected and Roger will have to terminate you.” We all nod at Jolee remembering which cell we’ll become.
“What am I going to do?” Rick asks.
“Stay here with me to make sure Klaus gets better,” she answers.
Moments later Bernard, Reese, Philly, Eve, Roger, and I are morphed into our assigned cells are being lowered into Klaus’s throat.
“Ok everybody,” I say, “I’m going to find the bacteria and identify it for Bernard.” Soon I find the germs and tell Bernard what kind of bacteria we’re dealing with.
“Seems to me we’ll need a lot more cells than I first suspected,” Bernard tells us, and sends out his flag to get the other cells to come attack the germs.
“I just tagged it,” Reese calls over to the rest of us, “Philly help your K cells kill the bacteria.”
“On it,” Philly yells in reply.
“Ouch! Ow! Get away!” Bernard yells as the germs swarm him.
“Bernard! Everyone help him!” I scream at the top of my lungs, but it is too late. Bernard is already infected.
“Hey, Catron,” Bernard yells to me in a mean tone, “guess what’s stupid and will never make Klaus’s throat feel better. You! Haha!”
Bernard insults the others as well, and we are practically begging Roger to terminate him. He takes no hesitate to do this action, and soon Bernard is no longer able to insult us.
“Eve, the bacteria is almost finished. Get ready to take your part in the mission,” Philly says.
“Ok good, I’ve been waiting for some action,” Eve calls back.
“Well, your part starts now we just killed the last of ‘em” Philly says. Roger also does his part and kills the rest of the infected cells.
Jolee gets everyone but Eve out of Klaus’s throat and returns us to human form.
“How are you feeling Klaus?” Reese asks.
Rick counters with another question, “Before we get to that I think I have the bigger question. Where’s Bernard?”
“He was infected by the bacteria,” Roger answers not having to add what he had to do.
“Oh,” Rick rasps trying to talk past the lump in his throat. I can tell he is about to cry, “Well, is-is Eve ok?”
“Yes, she just has to make sure the virus doesn't come back,” Jolee replies.
“At least Bernard helped make me feel better,” Klaus tries, “speaking of which I’m feeling better Reese”
“I think I can retrieve Eve now,” Jolee says.
Soon Eve has joined us in Jolee’s living room, and something unbelievable happens.
Roger’s stomach starts to rumble, and he let’s out the biggest burp I've ever heard. But it’s not the burp that was unbelievable; it was what he burped out.
Bernard was now on the ground coughing.
“Bernard!” Rick cried, “Is it really you?”
“Umm, Yes it’s really me,” Bernard answers as if he forgot who he was.
“Wow, looks like this adventure has a happy ending after all,” I say shocked that Bernard was standing in the room. We all laugh and gather in the dining room for a nice hot dinner.

Inside the Stomach

At school when Robin was eating lunch, he said to his friend Ben, "I need some help studying the digestive system. Are you done with your mini sub yet?"
Ben was building a robotic mini sub -- it was the shape of a pill. It looked like a mini sub from the outside, that had a glass dome, but the glass dome had a camera on the inside.
“Almost finished”, remarked Ben, “just have to do the finishing details, then it will be ready to go.”
Ben is Robin’s friend. He is a smart alec. Ben builds a fancy robot every unit.
When Robin was going to take a bite of his sandwich. Ben flicked the sub into his mouth. Robin swallowed.
He asked, “What did you just do?”
“I put the sub in your mouth,” Ben said as he took a bite of his burrito. "No big deal, but I hope you didn’t bite the sub.”
“I don’t think so,” said Robin.
“Good, here we can see what the camera can see on my IPhone .See the pill is in your esophagus. This is where your food is squeezed down to your stomach,” said Ben.
“Wow, my esophagus is really long,” said Robin.
As the sub went down Robin’s esophagus the sub was almost at the stomach. All of a sudden the sub went SPLASH into the stomach acid with the rest of Robin’s food.
“Eeew,” said Robin, “that’s what the inside of my stomach looks like, and what’s that liquid?”
“The liquid is acid, and yes that’s what the inside of your stomach looks like,” affirmed Ben.          “Your stomach uses acid to break down food, but the mini sub won’t break. Another way your stomach breaks down food is by shaking itself back and forth,” said Ben.
“Oh look, the sub is entering the small intestine. I think this is where red blood cells get nutrients from my food, right?” asked Robin.
“Yes, you are right,” said Ben, “but it does take a long time for the food to get through the small intestines. So, let's take a break and head to Art Class."
An hour later, when Robin and Ben were heading back to their class in the hall. Ben took out his phone to check on his mini sub.
Ben blurted out to Robin, “The sub is in the large intestine. I know that this is where food turns into poop!”
“Yeeuk, wait I need to go poop,” showed Robin.
As Robin ran to the bathroom Ben saw everything. It was disgusting and the sub broke!
When Robin came out the bathroom, he told Ben, “Sorry.”
“That’s ok, I made a bunch more at home,” admitted Ben. “At least you learned more about the digestive system!”
Ben was right, Robin did understand more about the digestive system. Also he did great on the unit and that made a great ending!

Queens Announcement

Queen's
Announcement
In the middle of the wilderness on an undiscovered island sat a kingdom with talking monkeys and four-armed people.
One sunny morning, the kingdoms bell clanged,DING DONG, and Sounded everybody to the courtyard. Queen Margie announced that a visitor would be coming to pick someone from the kingdom to go on a adventure.
The visitor was a bloated monkey with neon green hair named Monko. Monko picked the a four-armed man named Bob.
Later on, they did not know what adventure to go on. Finally, they figured out an adventure. Bob suggested that they should attempt to cross the old river.
"The bridge fell to pieces 81 years ago and no one has been able to cross it," stated Bob. So they got to work. First, Bob tried to swim. He thought he could do it because he had four arms and had double the strength, plus Monko was bloated and would sink to the bottom. Bob couldn't do it. He nearly drowned!
Then, Monko tried to float across the river on a log(FAIL). They fell off and Bob had to help Monko from sinking.
Lastly, at the very same time they thought of building a boat and oars. They finally made it across the river.
They sprinted across the the courtyard and ran into Queen Margie’s room and exlaimed,”We got across the river on a boat we made!”
The Queen was amazed. Then Monko smirked, "I do believe that you said we would get a reward.
"I too believe that you said we would get a reward,” fumed Bob.
"Oh fine,” grunted the Queen. "Here is 1 million dollars each, now shew! I'm in the middle of a nap,” she barked.
Monko and Bob were amazed at the amount of money they had. After that, they decided to go to the beach and get some ice cream, and go swimming in the ocean.

Heroes

Ludwig Van Beethoven
When Ludwig Van Beethoven composed his symphonies he went barefoot.  Beethoven is a remembered musician and hero because of his character, achievements, background, and historical events that were happening and he did.

Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany which was the beginning of a musical genius.  Beethoven had a harsh father and childhood.  If Beethoven hadn’t had a hard childhood he would never become a musician. Beethoven’s father wanted him to become another Mozart.  So he trained his son starting at waking up at 6:00 AM for half of the day. When Beethoven was an adult he became deaf and wrote nine symphonies!  The only way he could do it was taking off his shoes and feeling the vibrations which showed extreme commitment.

Ludwig Van Beethoven’s experiences are very important because they helped him become one of the worlds most remembered musicians.  Beethoven’s harsh childhood made him mature and focused on his music. He started to have trouble in school and music lessons at the young age of 12.  At the age of 17 he began his journey into the life of a famous musician and composer.  Beethoven began writing his first symphony in 1799 which meant he was becoming a musician.

Beethoven’s achievements were hard to get especially when he was deaf and making music.  One of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s greatest achievements was when he was seven and a half he performed at Cologne, Germany.  The second greatest achievement he ever made was writing nine beautiful symphonies while deaf!  A great achievement was becoming a famous beloved musician prodigy and composer. Beethoven was a prodigy that could play almost any instrument including the piano.

Many things were going on in Beethoven’s life that are important. One main event that happened when Beethoven was alive was the Napoleonic wars, the Napoleonic wars were happening in England. Napoleon attacked and conquered all of England. Another famous event that happened was the revolutionary war. Germans went to america and assisted the Americans in the war.

Beethoven’s life demonstrates how committed he was to music and learning.
Cookie and Butterscotch
By:Camden Lane
Cookie and Butterscotch were lying peacefully on the kitchen counter, when suddenly they heard several loud noises.

Cookie and Butterscotch were lifted into the air by sausage- like fingers, and eaten!

They didn’t understand what was happening and struggled very hard to avoid getting flattened by the big, white, sharp things going up and down.

Cookie and Butterscotch started to venture far away from the sharp chompers, and went down a tube, the esophagus. The esophagus was the hardest to get through because they were being pushed through a long tight tube.

Once Cookie and Butterscotch got into the stomach cookie called out, “BUTTERSCOTCH, WHERE ARE YOU?”

Butterscotch muttered, “I’m right next to you, you oaf.”

The two started feeling a rumbling vibration and then the area around them started to vibrate first the walls the the ground. Cookie wondered if it were an earthquake.

But Butterscotch answered, “That’s not an earthquake… THAT’S THE STOMACH DIGESTING!”

They both said in perfect harmony, “RUN!”

They went into the tunnel up ahead. The tunnel felt wet and soft. They sat down and started to talk about what had just happened. Butterscotch explained to cookie that they were in the small intestine and had to keep moving if the wanted to get out alive and undigested.

They kept moving and it felt like the small intestine was 2000 miles long. After the long walk they reached the large intestine.

“This is the shortest intestine,” said Butterscotch, “and leads to the rectum and into the anus.”
Cookie and Butterscotch walked down the dark, big, intestine to try and reach the anus. They found the anus waiting for them. They hopped onto one of the large brown trains and were ready to ride out.

They see light and get pushed through the portal into a bowl of water. As fast as they could they climbed out of the bowl and hid never to be found.

This is a part of my Illinois state report. I wanted to share this because this is the best part of it.

Geography

Do you know anything about Illinois and its rivers? To begin, the Mississippi River is along the western border. There are about 500 rivers and streams in Illinois that flow to the Mississippi River. Hills rise between some of these rivers. The Mississippi River has canals that link it to Lake Michigan. Sprawling along Lake Michigan is Chicago, the largest city in the Midwest, is located in the central lowland.  the Ozark Plateaus, one of the four land regions in the prairie states along the Mississippi River in the southwest. Now the Coastal Plain, is on the southern tip of Illinois. Interior low plateaus contain hills with forest. The Central Lowland covers 90% of the state (that's almost the whole state). Illinois has lots of rivers and lakes that affects the climate. mountains. The summer's average temperature is 75 degrees Fahrenheit though the south is hotter than the north. The winter's average is about -30 degrees fahrenheit.

Puff By: Gray W.

Puff

As she sleeps on my lap,
I will join and take a nap,

Although we had fun in the past,
I know her time won't always last,

We’d like to think she’ll make it to May,
But she’s getting thinner every day,

We now feed her baby food,
Which seems to put her in a better mood,

When she rests her head on my knee,
It fills my body with lots of glee,

Now that she's sick she breathes with small huffs,
It just had to happen to my little Puff.

Easter bunny coming at Twilight,
Laying eggs with chocolate delight!
Making children filled with joy!

Like cats on dogs,
Under the bed!
Above the cabinets!

Call out from their hiding places and the,
 Children are filled with cheer!

I take a leap close
to falling

Chartwheel on the edge of my feet
I take a fall, hop back up

Another leap
plant my feet, half a twist
tuck jump, straight jump

Close to the end
of the routine

Dismount
Round-off off the beam
Score of 923

Recently, I learned that students need audiences other than their teachers to really be productive authors. So, here it is, our place for publishing the work that makes us proud, work that deserves to be shared with others! Happy writing and reading! Fight On!! :-)
